Sunday Special - Paintbrush

I’m not an artist, but for some reason unknown to myself, I really like paintbrushes.

It’s the simple black brush that will bring forth colorful pictures in life.

People 2012 (8) - Young Footballer

Initially when he saw me with my camera squatting at one side waiting to shoot him, he was shy and retreated back to the indoors. But patience paid off, he came out again and willingly displayed his football skills for me.

Sunday Special - HAMBURGER

Are you hungry? It’s Sunday, give yourself a break, give yourself a treat. Head down to Empire State and order this humongous burger, which is at least 5 times a regular Big Mac.

Sunday is FUN!

People 2012 (7) - Street Performer

Street performers in Singapore requires a license to perform. But that did not deter people like this elderly uncle who was not there for the money, but purely for his love to sing.

Salute to people who chases their dreams regardless of age.

Sunday Special - Lanterns

Was walking around Chinatown and got captivated by the missing row of lights. Maybe the temple was trying to save money? Maybe the maintenance guy was on leave?

But it got me thinking, in life sometimes the path is not always totally lighted up. In fact, we do not need everything to be lit up, we need just enough illumination to bring us forward. This way life is more challenging, life is more of a faith-walk.

People 2012 (6) - Old Age

This elderly man has been baking bread using coal since 1937. Looking at his face, it’s hard not to wonder the ups and downs he has been through in life.

Sunday Special - Roll of Threads

Took this photo at the River Hongbao 2012. Most people will be posting photos of the lights, the 12 zodiac signs, the dragons, but for me, this simple colorful rolls of threads caught my eye.

Saw something similar in Bali once, the sight just reminds me of the hard work to produce a fabric. The amount of sweat that goes into simple threads like these which in turns produces magnificent work.

Don’t belittle the days of humble beginnings.

People 2012 (5) - Sleeping Man

Sleep deprivation.

Reports have shown that 80,000 drivers fall asleep behind the wheel everyday.

A study found that sleep deprivation resulted in reduced cortisol secretion the next day, driven by increased subsequent slow-wave sleep. Sleep deprivation was found to enhance activity on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (which controls reactions to stress and regulates body functions such as digestion, the immune system, mood, sex, or energy usage) while suppressing growth hormones.
