People 2012 (22) - Lonely Woman

As I was walking through the crowded streets along Chinatown, there is just this special force that draws me to this elderly woman who is sitting by herself on a plastic stool, people watching.

From her eyes, one can just feel a sense of loneliness.

Sunday Special - Hello Stranger

Recently I visited the Arts Museum and took a photo of this wall in a very dark room. Needless to say, the words immediately jumped out when I entered the room. Really creative and mind-challenging. Every door you see, every door you open, may bring you face-to-face with a stranger. How would you react to him/her?

People 2012 (21) - Grandmother

I grew up in JB with my grandmother for much of my first 3 years as a baby. She is now 90+ years old and occasionally I will travel over to JB to visit her. Although she is a bit hard on hearing now and her memory is failing, but she will always remember to pray for my health, my work and my ministry.

Any idea what is this sign talking about? At first sight, I thought it was some Korean words. Looking closer, these are come Chinese words. But what is the meaning?

People 2012 (20) - Tourists

Singapore is a country that relies on tourism to bring in much of her revenue. Having travelled a few places myself, I can understand why this little dot on the world map is such a popular place of travel.

The multi-cultural attractions is a big pull in Singapore. 2 elderly Koreans enjoying a rickshaw ride along Little India.

Most wild mushrooms are poisonous. But don’t you find the “wild” things usually more captivating than the “common”?

People 2012 (19) - Musician

Nowadays when we think or talk about musicians, we will tend to refer to pop music or rock music or heavy metal music. But with more than 5000 years of history, I may be wrong but definitely not too far off if I say one of the oldest musicians has to be the Chinese.

古琴, 琵琶, 二胡, 二弦, 笛子, 簫, 唢呐, 锣, 大鼓

In the photo, I believe the man is playing a 阮, a moon-shape lute.

“It is not a dreamlike state, but the somehow insulated state, that a great musician achieves in a great performance. He’s aware of where he is and what he’s doing, but his mind is on the playing of the instrument with an internal sense of righteous – it is not merely mechanical, it is not only spiritual; it is something of both, on a different plane and a more remote one.” Arnold Palmer

People 2012 (18) - Artist

People used to say that being an artist is a job that is non-profitable. Usually your art piece will become famous only after your are dead. But still, we are seeing so many various artists around, plying their trade at every different corners of this earth. A true artist is one who never gives up. He or she will continue their dreams and silently work to achieve some form of recognition in this life.
